tuscan countryside tour
A Tuscan Countryside tour is the best opportunity to drive through the land which has been immortalized by 14th century painters and has now become a cinematographers’ dream second to none. This iconic Tuscan landscape, world famous, is the reason why people decide to visit this region. The Sienese clay hills, Chianti and the Orcia valley, now a Unesco heritage site. An incredible combination of farmhouses, gardens, meticulously kept vineyards, extraordinarily well-preserved historical centers with architectural features from Roman, Gothic and Renaissance periods. We will meet the locals, the artisans, and have a chance to try the delicious local food and wine. We will visit Pienza, the town built by Pope Pius II to be a utopian renaissance town which is now famous for cheese, the outstanding Pecorino di Pienza. Montepulciano, from the lowest entrance gateway to the central square Piazza Grande, which houses the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) by Michelozzo and on to the Duomo (Cathedral) and eventually to a wine tasting of the excellent Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. From here we will continue to the Temple of San Biagio designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder and considered one of the most important churches of the Italian Renaissance. Montalcino, famous for its wine Brunello di Montalcino, the most renowned Italian wine in the world. The less known villages of San Quirico D’Orcia, Monticchiello and the spa village of Bagno Vignoni. Please contact me to personalize your tour to include gastronomic experiences like wine tastings of Chianti, Vino Nobile of Montepulciano and Brunello of Montalcino, or to learn about the secrets of extra virgin olive oil, local cheesemaking or to participate in a truffle hunt!
